Star Mall, a shopping mall in SIP, was designated the “Jiangsu Animation and Art Toys Suzhou Camp” at the summit forum held in SIP on Dec 24 for the purpose of promoting the “guzi (goods)” economy, a consumer phenomenon rooted in anime, comics and game culture. It is the first commercial project to have received this honor in East China’s Jiangsu province.

Run by SIP-based real estate conglomerate Hengtai Holding, Star Mall has created an immersive commercial space integrating sales of ACGN (Animation, Comic, Game and Novel) derivative products, exhibitions of ACGN brands, and social activities to meet the demand of the Generation Z (referring to people who were born in the late 1990s or the early 21st century).

A number of industry-leading brands have achieved eye-catching sales at the mall, with some recording single-day turnover of hundreds of thousands of yuan.
